For Signed Confessions

A compelling look at guilt and absolution Kirkus Reviews

While Walker's prose is never flashy, his careful grounding of details and patient efforts in constructing character and setting create a universe of flaws and possibilities, and his stories unfold with accumulative, occasionally wrenching emotional effect. A compelling look at guilt and absolution and the cost of each to wounded men.

Kudos for Signed Confessions in San Antonio Express News

There is something infectious in San Antonio writer Tom Walker's new collection of stories. Call it the hunger for absolution, for redemption not just by grace, but by an act of contrition, a true confession, born of the necessity to forgive and know oneself.
Yes, there is an ordained father confessor in this collection, a tough Irish-boxer-turned-priest, but he is the exception to the rule.
In seven highly original, well-crafted stories, Walker creates a rich, ecumenical assortment of confessors across gender, class and profession — from a manipulative lap dancer to long-suffering wives and a guru-like self-help group leader. -- Ed Conroy, San Antonio Express-News (Excerpt)

Finding inspiration in the darkness (Interview on Texas Public Radio)

Guilt and desperation are two dark motivators that frequently drive people out of their comfort zones to confront something, sometimes anything. This is the running theme in a collection of short stories titled "Signed Confessions."
Many of the stories take place in Texas and they were written by Tom Walker, a writer who lives in San Antonio.

Signed Confessions is both surprising and intriguing (Review on Rebecca's Reads)

I don’t normally give five star ratings to books that are a compilation of short stories, but in the case of “Signed Confessions” by Tom Walker, those five stars are definitely merited.
In my reading of “Signed Confessions,” I found this book to be both surprising, and highly intriguing. Each story was well-written, believable, and humorous in an often sardonic, and cynical, manner.-- Author Charline Ratcliff for Rebecca's Reads

Thomas Walker is accomplished, engaging writer (Midwest Book Review)

The seven stories forming "Signed Confessions" provide ample documentation of Tom Walker as an accomplished writer who is able to engage his readers with unusual but exceptionally well-crafted and riveting tales of the human condition.
